Perdido Key 2015

Once again, we ended summer on a fun note with a trip to Perdido Key, Florida! We love the place, and the traditions we have started making there. It is so refreshing to spend the week at the beach (and the pool) with no real schedule and no agenda. It was a great week, with the exception of the jelly fish! They were so bad, even in the surf, that after the first few days the kids didn't want to get in the water. (And Mimi never really did!)

Unfortunately, my camera was not working well in the humidity on the beach, so the only pictures I got were with my phone.
Ben got in a few good rides on the boogie board for the first time this year!
Sissy was really brave about the jelly fish for the first few days. She loves boogie boarding!
We had a lovely sunset dinner out one evening :)
Me and my love muffin enjoying dinner.
Ben didn't do too well playing in the sand, but he liked eating snacks!
Mattie was sand castle queen!
It wouldn't be vacation without some excitement!!! Benny Boo hit his chin on the side of the pool and had to get five stitches. He was SO brave about it though. It was a bummer, because he couldn't get wet the last two days.
He was still pretty happy though, most of the time. We improvised on the last day and put him in an inner tube to float so his chin wouldn't get wet.
I tried my hand at paddle boarding for the first time, and was rewarded big time! Once I got the hang of it, I let Mattie come on to ride and we went out away from the shore . . . and were treated to a dolphin show! We got within probably ten feet of a school of dolphin swimming and playing around. It was amazing and beautiful, and especially exciting for my animal-loving girl.
And of course, we carried on our "rainy time" tradition of visiting the "Blue Angels" museum. The kids loved it! They could've spent all day there probably. Super fun family outing!
