My Big Little Girl

It seems that overnight Sissy has officially turned into a Little Girl. She is always wanting to be Mama's helper with the laundry, dishes, cooking or whatever I am doing. She brings in pairs of her shoes to be changed out at least ten times a day. I am continually amazed by how much of what we say that she comprehends.

I was feeling like she didn't have a good play area in our house - all of her toys and books and everything were stacked up all around the front of our den (by the tv) and she couldn't really get to anything but what was on top. She wasn't ever in her room, it was too much of a nursery, and her toys were all in the den anyways. I felt like we were both frustrated by it!

Mimi to the rescue! Mom helped me reorganize our den and her room this week to give her two great playspaces. We rearranged the den so that she has her own space in the back of the den (away from the tv) and all of her toys are arranged so that she can get to them. We moved some things out of her room and moved in a kitchen and a toy cube (thanks to Popi for assembly duty) so that she had more to play with in her room. Quick side note - we had planned to get her a kitchen for Christmas, and the first week of December, we were offered one by our associate pastor whose daughter had outgrown it. Score!

The changes have made a huge difference! Over the last few days she has been playing away ON HER OWN in her new spaces. She loves it and we love it too!

I was surprised by how much she loved the kitchen. She serves food, cooks on the microwave and the stovetop and puts things in and out of the cabinet. She did try to put herself in the fridge, but only once :) Her cubes have toys and books that she can see and reach, and her music, which she can turn on by herself. Her monitor is also now out of reach, which is nice.

Sissy heating up a plate of food.
Serving Mimi some tea.
Frying up some eggs.
She loves to snuggle on the couch with Daddy for football or Dora, and always likes to get all the way under the blanket!
Mama's little helper with the dustbuster! Anyone need some help around the house?

Mattie has grown from paper towels and wash clothes to the dust buster. The full size vacuum is next! She is adorable playing in her new areas. Really she is just ADORABLE!
