For those of you who don't know, Goldie (not Mattie - oops) is our beloved family dog who has been with my parents since I was a freshman in college. Mattie met Goldie at Christmas, but she was still so little that I didn't really want her around a dog yet. Well, when we first got to Ann Arbor, Mattie was pretty scared of Goldie, kind of whimpering when she got near. She warmed up into wanting to peek around the couch to look for her, but still keeping her distance. By the time we left, Mattie was chasing Goldie around the house, and Goldie was the one running from Mattie!

Poor Goldie is sick . . . she has a very aggresive form of cancer that is not really treatable at her age. We were glad Mattie got to enjoy Goldie this visit, and thankful that Goldie was sweet to her!

i am sorry but i am LOL at your 1st sentence..."mattie is our beloved family dog..." i knew what you meant :), just funny!! i am so sorry goldie is sick though!! and it is good that mattie is being exposed to pets now so she is not scared later...sophie still bawls if a dog comes up to her!! love you, miss you!!
