Did you like my alliteration in that title? Matt and I wanted to do a little something special and fun for Sissy before Baby Boy comes. Really maybe it was for us more than her. . . we just wanted to spend time with just her and spoil her a little bit before her brother comes along!
We left after church Sunday and drove straight to the Ft. Worth zoo. I had heard so many good things about their zoo and had been wanting to take her for a long time. It was a beautiful, warm day, perfect for a trip to the zoo! There were a lot of animals to see for sure - Mattie said her favorite was seeing the tiger, although she looked at it for approximately 30 seconds. We hit as many animals as we could, but once Sissy heard there was a train, she was ready to move on.
So we rode the train! (It was Sissy's day!)
Matt cut off most of my face in this picture, but you can see how excited Sissy was to ride that train!
And the train deposits you right in front of the carousel, so that of course had to be our next stop. She rode it three times!
After one more train ride, we left the zoo and headed to eat Mexican food on a patio in downtown Ft. Worth. Sissy loves her chips and queso!
After dinner, the big surprise was taking Mattie to the hotel. We have never been with her to a hotel, and at first she didn't get why we would be sleeping there, but she quickly got over it and got SUPER EXCITED! She ran around the room, jumped on the bed, etc. We even let her have chocolate ice cream in bed, which in retrospect probably did not help her fall asleep. It took about an hour and a half to finally doze off, but she did. (I did have a moment where I thought we might have to just pack up and leave, but she did settle down!)
After the breakfast buffet in the morning, Sissy and Daddy hit the pool!

She was a little hesitant at first, but she soon had Daddy throwing her up in the air (nonstop) and jumping in off the side (nonstop). She did not want to get out of the pool or leave the hotel when it was time.
Luckily we had a little more fun in store - we met up with our friends the Hanks for a play date at the Museum of Science and History, which had a wonderful children's section. It was such a treat because we hardly ever get to see them, and Mattie loved getting to play with Meredith and Jillian! She was also really into shooting the water guns with Daddy!
And she got to "ride the horse" with Meredith (and Jillian too for a minute).
After a fun lunch with the Hanks, we finally headed home. Mattie talked about Meredith and Jillian nonstop for about three minutes in the car, then she passed out cold and slept for about another two hours once we got home. She was worn out! We had a wonderful time and I certainly won't forget it, although she probably already has ;)
