One for the memory books

Saturday was one of those picture perfect days that I want to bottle up and repeat over and over and over!  The day started off with a super treat - because Mimi was in town, Matt and I got to go on an early morning run together. This may not sound like a Saturday morning treat to most of you, but running together is one of the things that we loved to do and did all the time before we had kids. And now, it is a rarity for obvious reasons. But getting to run and talk for an hour uninterrupted and see the sunrise - it was a great way to start the day!

We headed out to the Dallas Arboretum next. We have a membership (thanks to Nanny) which we have been enjoyed immensely lately. It is such a pleasant place to go and let the kids run around, have a picnic lunch, and maybe get in a little culture too - if we are lucky. Right now, they have all the little houses out there decorated as different artists houses, so Mattie and I went to each one and talked about Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, etc. It is really cool to see how they have each house done to reflect some of the artists' work. And the Arboretum also has a fantastic exhibit of right now of Chihuly work (check out this link if you have no idea what that is, because I didn't). They had kids maps of things to look for, so we went around and checked all of those out and talked about them too. Of course the picnic lunch was the highlight!
Then, we had family play time in the sprinkler when we got home. Yes, that is right I said family - as in all four of us! Boo LOVED LOVED LOVED it. He just grinned and squealed up a storm.
And so did this nerd of course!
Thanks to Mimi again, Matt and I got to end our day with an official date night out (while Mattie and Mimi had a movie date night at home). What a day!
