Celebrating Ben!

Our family enjoyed celebrating Ben all weekend long! No one gets more excited about a birthday than Mattie. I am not sure Ben really knew there was anything special about the big day, but we tried to make it fun for him! Popi flew in Wednesday on his Winter Break, so we had already been in major party mode around our house ;)
When Mattie turned two, we started celebrating birthdays by waking her up in the morning with balloons and singing Happy Birthday. She loves it, of course. Well, all of us charged in to greet Ben Saturday morning with our singing and balloons and what did he do? Lay down and put his paci back in and look at us like we were crazy. These two could not be more different.
Me and my two lovies ready to celebrate!
Saturday morning we joined our dear friends the Bons for a big extended family celebration of Ben AND Katherine, who turned one on Friday. We had a fun (and delicious) brunch celebration outside in the Bons' backyard. Thankfully the weather held out enough for us . . . it was chilly, but it didn't start really raining until we were loading up our car to go home. Sweet girl was not too sure of being photographed with Ben!
Neither one of them were too sure what was going on with the singing and the candles. I love how they are just kind of looking at each other like, what is going on?
Ben made the blowing face, but didn't quite get how to actually blow out the candle!
The kids both passed out cold after we got home from the party, but woke up excited to see Pops and Nanny! Here are two nerds enjoying some raisins with Pops.
We had planned to spend the afternoon and evening outside grilling and playing, but it was raining and cold. So we hung around inside and talked for hours and ate BBQ instead.
By the third rendition of Happy Birthday, Ben was a little more into it.
Sister was VERY helpful in opening presents. We had movie night, which was a fitting way to end a fun family day!
I still can't believe my baby is two!
