Holy Moly!

Will someone please tell me where my babies have gone?!?!?!  Please look at BEN! Over the past week(ish) he is now crawling like a mad man, pulling up ON HIS FEET and oh yeah, totally quit nursing. He has been less and less interested over the past month, but two "sink the teeth in" bites this weekend, and Mama decided it was time to give it up.  I love all these fun changes, but MY BABY!
I also started throwing them in the bath together (after I stole this handy bath seat from Stacie) and it is fabulous! They both love entertaining each other!  The bathroom gets really really wet, but it is fun and fast.  They both look gigantic in these pictures, and I'm thinking/hoping it must have been the camera angle . . .
We spent the the rest of the weekend (after Thanksgiving) working like crazy on our "to do" list. It was a lot of fun, but we were busy. Friday we worked like crazy decorating for Christmas. Sissy got a tree in her room this year and hung every ornament herself.
Can you tell? I love how she lined up three to five ornaments on each of the lower branches. It worked out well for me because I had to lift her to reach the higher ones. She also helped me decorate the big tree this year for the first time. We only had two broken ornaments . . . but, she loved helping. She also was really into putting out the nativity scenes and a few other decorations.

Friday we also got our outdoor chores done - Daddy did them mostly, but we helped rake leaves a little bit and planted some flowers and provided moral support as Matt was on the roof. We were outside until well after dark and at the end of the day, we were super tired, but I told Matt I almost liked Friday even more than Thursday. It was just so fulfilling to work together, and decorate our house and pick out Christmas trees - all as our family of four. We included Ben in everything (in some way) too, and I have to say our family feels just right.

Saturday we got a quick visit from Nanny and Pops and Mattie was delighted to show off all of her decorations, and Ben was thrilled to show off his new skills. We were excited to have visitors . . .we hadn't seen anyone but the Lowe's workers in four days!

Now . . . someone tell me how I am going to keep Ben away from that tree!

When my kids were small, I didn't want to mess with trying to keep them away from the Christmas tree. So, we got a small tree one year and put it on top of the dining room table, and then piled the gifts all over the table. Another year, we hung lights from the ceiling, and then hung the ornaments from the lights up there. I have also seen other people who put up those baby fences all the way around the tree. Whatever the solution -- it needs to be one where you can turn your back and not worry about it!

oh my they DO look big?? i totally understand the nursing thing. i think biting means they are bored & not really wanting too...i would have done the same thing!! we had a gate ALL around our tree last yr (i think it's from one step ahead) & you are welcome to borrow it if you want. hmmm...an excuse to get together?? :) love you, love you...
