The "Real" Birthday

Another big day of celebration is in the books! Sissy got to open presents first thing when she woke up, then had a trip to the donut shop with Popi and Daddy. I told her we could do anything she wanted on her birthday day, and at first all she wanted to do was play with Mimi in her room. But I finally convinced her that maybe an outing would be more fun. Thanks to the amazingly unseasonable weather, we were able to spend the morning at the Arboretum for a picnic lunch! This is truly something for the record books for mid-August. It was so nice to be outside with the kids and let them run and run and run! Ben had THE BEST time. I don't know if you can see his face in the picture, but he is cheesing so hard it is hilarious.
Of course, stopping by for ice cream was a birthday must! Chocolate with gummy bears, chocolate chips and reece's pieces. Um, yum I guess?
We had a family birthday dinner at Tony's (of course!) and then one last round of Happy Birthday and candle blowing for the birthday girl.
What a fun day! Real life is going to be oh-so-boring for my girl next week ;)
