Um, hello. Where did June go? WHAT, it is JULY? We are having so much fun this summer, it is flying by. It makes me so sad to start counting down the weeks (eight) until my baby girl will be starting kindergarten. I am totally treasuring these weeks where I get to spend so much time with the kids. It is a gift! And I have a few special things up my sleeve that just me and the girl will be doing. . . .
We have been having a ridiculous amount of fun. As in, I can't even take pictures. Just kidding, but we have been swimming a lot, and managing a four and two year old at the pool does not lend itself to a lot of picture taking. Water safety people!
Thursday, I took both kids to the dentist. (Again no pictures, but really, it wasn't too exciting.) As expected, Mattie behaved totally fine and Ben cried like a huge baby when they looked at his teeth. And ya'll, they let me hold him in my lap and they only looked at his teeth. No probing, scraping or cleaning. We went swimming after the dentist, and the biggest victory of summer was accomplished. I have successfully trained Ben to walk to the top of the big slide with Mattie, she puts him on it and he comes down by himself and then she follows. (I wait at the bottom to catch them. If you don't understand how awesome this is, then clearly you haven't gone down a water slide 30 times in a row lately.) Anywho, we all came home and napped until five - why not? - and then had movie night.
Friday, we braved the heat and went to the Arboretum because it is themed as Alice in Wonderland right now and they have Alice there on Fridays! The houses were adorable, and well . . .
. . .there was an Alice there. (I'm not saying a word.)

After playing in the fountains and eating our picnic lunch, these two got their faces painted (pink cat and a skeleton).

Ben was emphatic that he did not want his face painted. He kept saying
NO the entire time Mattie and Jake got theirs done, even though I
assured him he did not have to get his painted.

Saturday we swam in the morning, went home for lunch and naps, and then went to a Sunday School class swim party. Last night, our church sponsored a patriotic concert and ice cream social benefiting Feed Lake Highlands, a food ministry run by our off-campus ministries program.
These little rascals sang Yankee Doddle.

I have to come to work Monday morning just to take a break ;)
