A Crazy Christmas Day!

I hope everyone had a joyous Christmas week! I have taken some time off from the computer to just enjoy my family. From where I left off on Christmas Eve . . . .Christmas Day started early because of house-rattling thunderstorms starting at 2am. Sissy of course woke up screaming and crying, so Mimi came to the rescue and got her back to sleep after about an hour. When the grown ups got up at six, Mattie already had her light on in her room, so who knows what time she woke up. But I had told her she had to wait in her room until we came and got her or we wouldn't open up presents, so wait she did! In the meantime, my mom and I were working on monkey bread and sausage delights in the kitchen and blew a breaker, so the power went out. Once we got that fixed we put breakfast in the oven and went to get the kids up for SANTA! Mattie was thrilled to see Jasmine poking out of her stocking! This year was the first year she really really really got excited about presents and Santa, and it was really fun to watch!

Ben seemed impressed with his firetruck too.
After the kids had discovered all their Santa goodies, I went to the kitchen to check on breakfast to discover that our oven had not recovered from the power outage. As in, had an error message and was not working at all. So I ran next door to our neighbors (in the pouring rain) and asked to borrow their oven to cook our breakfast. Hilarious!
Let the present opening resume.  . .Mattie got a lot of Merida items this Christmas.
Ben got a cute little workbench complete with his own phone.
This was the best picture I got of my two monkeys together!
About two o'clock, we looked out the window to see the most beautiful, powdery snow falling. It was so beautiful! Sissy, Mimi and I had some snowball fights.
Mattie really wanted to make a snowman/snow princess!
We wound up cooking our Christmas dinner in our OTHER next door neighbors house (they were out of town). Us running back and forth with our dishes in the falling snow was so unbelievable! The day was a little wild, but having those memories of chasing Mattie in the snow and watching the kids have a dance party with my parents with the snow falling down outside are some of my all time favorites!
