Trimming the Tree

A week ago, my plan for today was to go pick out our Christmas tree and do our inside Christmas decorating today. As Saturday got closer, and I realized we had a long run for me, choir practice for Mattie, haircuts for me and Mattie, yard for Matt, and a Christmas party for the whole family . . . I am tired from typing all that . . . I realized we might not have time for the tree today ;)

So Thursday night we all went to dinner at Tony's and then to pick out a tree. Eating out with Ben usually involves me pulling out a million and one different things to keep him either eating or entertained, while I scarf food down if possible. Once he was done with his dinner and had thrown a lot of things on the floor, I had a stroke of genius - lollipop. Why did I not think of this before? I was able to eat my meal and a roll. Hallelujah!
Sweet girl with her Daddy.
Mattie and I decorated the tree Friday afternoon while Ben napped. Notice there are only ornaments on the top half. We are hoping not to lose any to the Bendozer (as Pops calls him) this year. Mattie loved decorating, and commented on how BEAUTIFUL every ornament was! She did let me know that the one with her baby handprint was her favorite, because it had "meaning." She is so funny!
Despite the 80 degrees today we are IN the Christmas spirit!
