Old Saint Nicholas Had a Tree

Tonight was the Christmas program at Mattie's school. I wasn't too sure what to expect, we just knew that her class was singing a few songs, but it was fully and purely hysterical. The 2 and 3 year olds sang three songs together to start off the show (which lasted all of 25 minutes) and it was one of the cutest, but also funniest things I have ever seen.

I got there 30 minutes early and the seats were filling up fast. As the first kids filed out, the place was filled with "Hi Mommy, Hi Daddy" and tons of parents standing up waving to their kids like they were in a parade. It was so funny! Mattie's class was the last out (because they were the youngest) and most of them didn't know to find their parents right away. I snuck down to the front so I could video and she was not more than five feet from me, but she made it all the way through the first song before she found me and pointed and said "There's my mommy right there!"

The older kids did really well, but the 2s and 3s had kids walking off the stage to sit down, crying, sitting down, nose picking. . . you name it. Mattie did really great and sang all three of her songs even after she saw me just a few feet away. She was really proud of herself and she just hugged and hugged and smiled afterwards!

This was when they first came in and were sitting during the opening prayer and introduction.

Then they stand up ready to perform. She is looking a little apprehensive!
Mid-performance, catching Mama's eye. I love how her antlers are on totally crooked and her hair it all scraggly out from underneath them! And she was so proud of herself!

The last song they sang was called Old Saint Nicholas Had a Tree, sung to the tune of Old MacDonald. It was the easiest one I think for the kids and the one they did with the most enthusiasm, even though they had lost quite a few members by the time they got to this one! Mattie is front and center, and be sure to check out the little boy next to her too!!
